Program Staff

  • Joe oversees Club operations and programs with primary concern for program development and implementation, staff development, supervision of staff, facilities, and budget management. Joe is a former coach in the Cabarrus County school system and has several years' experience as a high school teacher. He has been employed at the Club since 1999. Joe has a BA Degree in Education from UNC-Charlotte.

  • Mark oversees the development of the Afterschool & Summer Programs, including designing practices, processes and procedures for strong program and project management. He also supports in the overall operation of the Club. Mark joined the Club in 2009. He has a BA in Parks and Recreation Management from UNC Wilmington, and a Masters of Science Degree in Sports Studies from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

  • Jeff oversees and helps implement programs that support the Club's vision and short-term and long-term plans, including staff training and development and implementation of BGCA programming. Jeff manages the Club’s Teen initiatives through management of the Middle School and High School Programs. He has worked with Boys & Girls Clubs for 20 years. Jeff joined our Club in 2016. He is a graduate of North Carolina State with a BS in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management.

  • Thelma works with the Deputy Director of Operations to manage Club operations and programs, including program development and implementation, staff development, and staff supervision. Thelma is a trained youth professional and has been employed at the Club since 2001. She has several years of experience in the Cabarrus County school system.

  • Rodney, better know as "Coach Breezy", works with the Deputy Director of Operations to manage Club operations and programs, including program development and implementation, staff development, and staff supervision. Rodney joined the Club staff in 2012. He is a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School, and has been a volunteer coach at the Club for over 20 years.

  • Tina oversees our athletic programs including flag football, basketball, and volleyball. She also oversees programming and staff at Camp Spencer in the summer. In addition, Tina programs activities and supervises staff in the gyms and oversees the facilities and facilities staff. Tina joined our team in 2022. She began her career as a Pro Tennis Player and instructor, training at Cabarrus Country Club and teaching for CPCC. She held various positions at Parks & Rec in Brunswick County, NC.

  • Alec supervises the programs and develops the activities for the Middle School youth at our Club. He also oversees the implementation of our 21CCLC grants and programming. A Concord native, Alec joined our team in 2018. He began as a member of the Club in kindergarten and continued through his school years. He began working in 2007 as camp counselor. Alec graduated from East Carolina University in 2018 with a BS Degree in Recreation and Park Management.

  • Renee supervises the programs and develops the activities for the High School youth at our Club. Renee began working at the Club in 2012 before becoming a Police Officer at Concord Police Department. She returned to the Club in 2019. She graduated from Concord High School and earned her BA in Criminal Justice from UNC-Charlotte. Renee loves interacting with children and has a passion to inspire and help kids achieve their full potential. When she is not working, she enjoys family time, a good TV binge and coaching basketball.

  • Annette supervises and develops Learning Center, Tech Room and Game Room activities for the youth at our Club with a focus on the 3rd-5th grade. Annette joined our staff in 2012 as a Program Aide and joined the team full time in 2022. Prior to working at the Club, Annette was a teacher’s assistant and bus driver with Cabarrus County Schools for 12 years. She also was a volunteer coach at the Club in the cheerleading, basketball, and volleyball programs for 20 years. She graduated from East Carolina University and has a BA in Applied Science.

  • Bri supervises and develops Life Skills, Arts/Crafts, Learning Center, Tech Center and Game Room activities for the youth at our Club, with a focus on K-2nd grades. She started working at the Club in 2011 as a Program Aide and became a Program Director in 2017. Bri has spent most of her life with the Club. Before working here, Bri was a member of our Club programs from kindergarten through high school.

  • Mary Beth assists in the responsibilities of the Club Central Desk, which include greeting parents, directing calls and providing administrative support. She also generates program rosters and attendance sheets, and enters student's academic information into our member database. Mary Beth is from China Grove and currently lives in Mount Pleasant. She began working at the Club in 2007 and joined the team full time in 2021. Mary Beth is retired from Cabarrus County Schools and holds an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.

  • Chantal Sanders, Food Service Manager
    Chantal Sanders, Food Service Manager

    Chantal oversees the cafeteria and all activities / feeding of our Club kids. She has over 10 years of experience working in the school system and child care. Chantal joined our team in 2021. When she is not working, she loves spending time with her 8 Lovebugs (grandchildren), shopping, and watching a great movie. Family, Love are the most important things to her.

  • Jeff Kidd, Facilities Manager
    Jeff Kidd, Facilities Manager

    Jeff oversees the facilities and grounds of the Club, ensuring they are kept at a high standard of appearance. He also provides general maintenance and upkeep of Club vehicles, an important aspect of this position. Jeff has been working at the Club since 2008.

  • Andra Cowan, Facility Technician
    Andra Cowan, Facility Technician

    Andra assists with the overall cleaning and floor care at the Club. He joined the staff in 2022. He was born and raised in Salisbury, NC and has been in the cleaning, maintenance and floor tech field for over 4 years.

  • Nic Lynch, Part-time Program Assistant/Facility Technician
    Nic Lynch, Part-time Program Assistant/Facility Technician

    Nic started out as a kid at the Club playing sports and attending the Afterschool and Summer Programs. He became a volunteer coach of football and basketball at the Club in 8th grade and became a head coach in high school. In 2019, he was named the Donnie Whittington Coach of the Year. He joined our Club staff in 2016 as a sophomore in high school. He has worked in the middle school program and currently works as teen assistant. Nic also assists with facility maintenance.

  • Thad Smith, Athletic Assistant
    Thad Smith, Athletic Assistant

    Thad assists with athletic programs, which include flag football, basketball, and volleyball. Thad is a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He served in the United States Army from 2002-2014, with two tours in Iraq. Thad has volunteered as a coach in our football, basketball and volleyball programs, and joined our Club staff in 2013.

    As the Club Central attendant, Dawn is the eyes and ears as children are arriving and leaving the Club. A Club staff member since 2006 and a Cabarrus County Schools employee for 20 years, Dawn’s passion for working with youth is truly an asset. She assists with membership management, attendance, and daily programming coordination. Dawn is a lifelong resident of Concord and has a certificate of completion in education from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

  • Rebecca Thompson, Part-time Program Assistant-3rd-5th grade
    Rebecca Thompson, Part-time Program Assistant-3rd-5th grade

    Becky moved from St. Louis, MO to Concord in 2020 and began working at the Club in 2021. She is responsible for programming arts & crafts and life skills activities for the 3rd-5th grade age group. Becky has owned and operated her own catering business for 30 years and worked in human resources and accounting for a construction company for 15 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in administration from Webster Business College.

  • Shrree Wilkie, Part-time Program Assistant-STEM/Special Programs
    Shrree Wilkie, Part-time Program Assistant-STEM/Special Programs

    A Kannapolis native, Shrree has been a valuable staff member at the Club since 2006, starting as the supervisor at the Club’s Afterschool Program first at Kannapolis Intermediate School, then at G.W. Carver Elementary. As she transitioned to the Club’s Concord site, Shrree has facilitated the Club’s’ special programs including BGCA initiatives and STEM programming. Shrree has an associates degree from RCCC, a bachelors degree from Shaw University, and a Masters degree from Ashford University and worked for Kannapolis City Schools for 15 years.
