Club Staff

  • Valerie is responsible for strategic planning, community relations, and board development. Valerie has been a resident of Cabarrus County since 1976. She has been the Director of the Club since 1994, with over 25 years in non-profit management. Valerie has a BA Degree in Journalism and Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill.

  • Joe is in charge of the daily operations of the Afterschool and Summer programs at the Club. Joe is also responsible for facility management. Joe is a former coach in the Cabarrus County school system and has several years experience as a high school teacher. He has been employed at the Club since 1999. Joe has a BA Degree in Education from UNC-Charlotte.

  • Larry is in charge of the Club's payroll, budget, and other finances. Larry is a long time Cabarrus County resident and started working at the Club in 2008. He has spent 30 years in the accounting field and is a Certified Internal Auditor. He has a BS Degree in Accounting from UNC-Charlotte.

  • Amy assists the Finance Director in all accounting and systems functions including accounting, payroll, human resources, insurance administration, grants and data system management. Amy joined the Club in 2016. She is a graduate of NC State University with a BA in Biological & Agricultural Engineering and a minor in Finance. Amy has many hobbies, including fishing, hunting, gardening and knitting. She also has two miniature donkeys!

  • Mark oversees the "Senior Unit" (3rd-5th graders) in the Afterschool and Summer Programs. He also supervises the Club athletic programs. Mark joined the Club in 2009. He has a BA in Parks and Recreation Management from UNCWilmington, and a Masters of Science Degree in Sports Studies from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

  • John is from Salisbury, NC and currently resides in China Grove. He earned his BA is Social Studies and achieved a Minor in History. John supervises the "Junior Unit" (K-2nd grade) in the Afterschool and Summer Programs. He says success is setting goals and making a difference is someone's life. John loves spending time in the Rocky Mountains and Lake Tahoe!

  • Jonathan is from Mt. Pleasant, NC. He received his BA in Sociology with a minor in Urban Youth and Community from UNCC. Jonathan has worked at the Club and at Camp Spencer since 2011. He oversees the Teen Unit and Camp Spencer, and is the Director of the 21st Century Community Learning Center Program. He likes interacting with the kids and the relationships he has made with the staff. Jonathan enjoys spending time with family, friends and his dog, Posey.

  • Jeff is from Halifax County and currently lives in Huntersville, NC. He joined the Club in 2016. Jeff loves most making a positive impact on youth. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, watching sports and spending time with family. Jeff’s hidden talent is juggling!

  • Mary is in charge of fundraising campaigns, including special events, social marketing, and direct mail. She also manages volunteers, the donor database and the Club website. Mary joined the Club in 2010. A graduate of Peace College, Mary is a native of Concord and a former Keystone Club member.

  • Micaela oversees all membership enrollment and processing for the Club. Micaela is a native of Concord, NC and graduated from Concord High School. She furthered her education in Columbia, SC at Benedict College in Criminal Justice Administration. She enjoys spending time with her kids, friends and her dad (she’s a daddy’s girl)! Micaela’s favorite quote is, “Being different isn’t a bad thing. It means that you’re brave enough to be yourself.” ~Luna Lovegood

  • Alaina is a Concord resident and joined the Club in 2018. She attended Appalachian State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Advertising and was a member of the App State Dance Team. She currently works with the Resource Development team assisting with Volunteer Management, Special Events, and some Marketing aspects of the Club. Alaina has danced since she was two and loves to draw!

  • Bailey worked at the Club as a camp counselor during the summer from 2011-2013. Bailey re-joined the staff at the Club in 2018 and currently serves as 21st Century Community Learning Center Project Coordinator. Bailey graduated from Western Carolina University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She loves interacting with children, spending time with her family and loves her dog, Kuechly.

  • Alec joined our team in 2018 as the 21st CCLC Middle School Program Coordinator. A Concord native, Alec began as a member of the Club in kindergarten and continued through his school years. He began working in 2007 as camp counselor. Alec graduated from East Carolina University in 2018 with a BS Degree in Recreation and Park Management. He enjoys the outdoors, napping, and sports. His favorite place to be is Camp Spencer during the summer time.

    Renee graduated from Concord High School and earned her BA in Criminal Justice from UNC-Charlotte. Renee previously worked as a Program Aid in the summer of 2012 before becoming a Police Officer at Concord Police Department. In 2019 she became the 21st Century Community Learning Center Program Coordinator for grades K-5. Renee loves interaction with children and has a passion to inspire and help kids achieve their full potential. Her favorite saying is " kids are our future so we aim to inspire." When Renee is not working she enjoys family time, a good TV binge and coaching basketball.

  • Jim has been with the Club since 1972! He is the founder and director of the Keystone Program. Jim has impacted the lives of thousands of teens over the years. Many of these teens have returned to serve on the Board at the Boys & Girls Club.

  • Thelma is in charge of Educational Programs at the Club, with a focus on the 21st Century Learning Center Program. Thelma is a trained youth professional and has been employed at the Club since 2001. She has several years of experience in the Cabarrus County school system.

  • Rodney joined the Club staff in 2012 as Program Director for the Middle School Program. As the middle school room leader, Rodney implements the Street Smart program. Rodney is a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School, and has been a volunteer coach at the Club for close to 20 years.

  • Cheri is from Concord and attended CHS. She participated in the Afterschool, Summer and sports programs at the Club. Cheri began working at the Club in 2012 and currently works as a Program Director. She enjoys hanging with the children and making a difference in their lives. Cheri loves to play basketball.

  • Randy oversees all aspects of the football, basketball and volleyball programs at the Club. He joined the athletic staff in 1999. Randy attended Concord High School and has a BA in Kinesiology from East Carolina University. Randy enjoys helping young people learn all the values taught while playing team sports.

  • Jeff Kidd, Facilities Manager
    Jeff Kidd, Facilities Manager

    Jeff has been the building and maintenance supervisor at the Club since 2008. Jeff is responsible for daily cleaning and overall upkeep of the property, including the Club's athletic fields. Occasionally, Jeff takes time out of his schedule to serve as a substitute bus driver in our Afterschool Program.
