Hello Keystone Members

We have missed having you at the Boys & Girls Club. Since school went virtual in March so much has changed.

Keystone & Jim Helms

We were sad for Jim Helms to announce his retirement at a time we could not all come together, but be assured when we can all gather again, we will celebrate all Jim has meant to Keystone and the Boys & Girls Club.

Virtual Schools and Plan B

We want to give you an update on where we are now that school has opened in Plan B. We have been and will continue to be open in a limited capacity to provide support for youth as they attend virtual classes. Students will remain in small cohorts and socially distanced.  Because of these restrictions we have not been able to begin the Keystone program for this school year. We hope to be able to initiate the 2020-2021 Keystone program in early 2021. We will keep you posted on social media.

Veterans Day Program Information

The Veterans Day Program held by the Keystone Club is always looked forward to at the Boys & Girls Club. We are not able to hold the traditional program this year, but thanks to our partnership with the Veterans Association, Cabarrus County and the City of Concord, we will still be able to recognize our veterans. The County is videotaping a special Veterans Day Program to premier on their station Veterans Day, November 11th at 11:00am.

Following the premier of the program, we will host a drive through event at the Boys & Girls Club to celebrate our veterans. From 12:00 to 2:00pm veterans are invited to drive through the BGC parking lot while members of the community are lined up with signs to show our veterans how much we appreciate them.

We would love to have as many Keystone members as possible participate in the event.  Click on the button below to find out how you can help.

About the Keystone Program

Keystone is a Boys & Girls Clubs of America national program in which high school age youth participate, both in and out of the Club, in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service. Located in the Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County, The Keystone Room is open daily with weekly meetings on Sundays and service projects throughout the year. With the guidance of Jim Helms, Keystone members aim to have a positive impact on members, the Club and community.

Members of the Keystone Program organize and implement several special events throughout the year, including an annual Blood Drive and Veterans Day Program.  Members also volunteer as tutors in the Club's Afterschool Program, and at special Club events such as Pancake Day and the Festival of Trees.
